NRL investigate Valentine Holmes over white powder photo, North Queensland Cowboys, integrity unit
Valentine Holmes will reportedly deny using an illicit drug at a meeting with the NRL and Cowboys after a photo emerged over the weekend of him holding a bag of white powder.
According to the Courier Mail, Holmes will be asked for a “please explain” over the photo with both the Cowboys and NRL conducting their own investigations.
Holmes uploaded the picture on his own social media account. He is seen biting down on the unopened small bag while holding a drink. It has since been deleted from his Instagram story but is now being widely circulated.

The Cowboys released a statement confirming they were aware of the photo and would assist the integrity unit with their investigation.
“The North Queensland Cowboys are aware of a photo posted to social media by a Cowboys player this morning,” the statement said.
“The club is conducting an investigation as well as assisting the NRL Integrity Unit.
“The Cowboys will make no further comment until the investigations are completed.”
According to the Courier Mail, Holmes will insist it was just a joke and that he did not use cocaine or any other illicit substance.
“Holmes has told those close to him that the image was a puerile prank gone wrong. He will reiterate that sentiment to Cowboys hierarchy and NRL integrity-unit chiefs on Monday, adamant he did not partake in any drug-taking activity,” the Courier Mail reported.
A formal hearing into the incident will take place at 11am Monday over Zoom.
