Gotham Knights Could Be Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch could be getting a port of last year’s Gotham Knights, as the game has now been rated for the system. Gotham Knights was officially released in October 2022 on current-generation consoles and PC, but its release was marked by controversy.

As many titles on PS5 and Xbox Series X come with support for 60 FPS gameplay, Gotham Knights received backlash for being capped at 30 FPS on consoles. Some users also complained about Gotham Knights’ UI being similar to free-to-play mobile games, and it looks like players had a number of other issues with the game. Regardless, it looks like Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play Gotham Knights in the future.

As reported by Nintendo Life, Gotham Knights has been rated for the Nintendo Switch, so it could be released on the system in the near future. The report has pointed out that the ESRB rating for Gotham Knights now mentions Switch as a platform alongside PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Nintendo Life has also mentioned that a rating for the Switch version of Gotham Knights has appeared in Singapore, so an official announcement could be coming soon. Interested customers should note that Gotham Knights has been given a rating of Teen due to violence, blood, and strong violence, and players can take a look at the full summary on the official ESRB website.

Gotham Knights received mixed reviews at its launch, as its PS5 version has a score of 67 on Metacritic. Its user score is sitting at just 4.9, as players have given it low ratings for a variety of reasons including the visuals and the 30 FPS cap. So, it’ll be interesting to see how Gotham Knights runs on the Switch whenever it comes out, especially given that it’s not available on previous generation consoles. A recent leak suggested that Nintendo will host a new Direct presentation later this month, so a port of Gotham Knights could be announced at this event.

The Switch versions of some major third-party games got a positive response when they came out. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Doom Eternal, and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim are some of the most impressive ports available on the Nintendo Switch, while fans can play titles like Alien: Isolation and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice as well. So, despite the relatively weaker critical reception, Gotham Knights could be the newest game added to this collection of impressive ports.
